Mute button does not work

Question

I am facing a new problem with my XPS m1330  while in Vista. The mute button does not work; although the OSD turns on. I can mute manually. I can increase/decrease the volume using the touch-sensitive volume buttons. But when I press the mute button, only OSD. What could be the problem?

I don't think so. But the hardware is fine as it works in XP (mine is now dual-boot)   Is there any issue with the latest Quickset?   I tried to uninstall Quickset, but I got an error. Don't have time now but will look for a solution in mid-December unless its some really easy fix.

I have the same problem with a XPS M1530, but all the others are ok! It has worked normally but a day (when i installed a driver for mouse), it didn't worked! I updated the driver and it restarted to work well. But today it doesn't work.

I have Dell 1525 and suddenly started having same issue. softkeys all work except mute. just add this issue to growing problems with both my 1525 laptops!
