my computer

Question

i dont know what to do about my computer.  when i turn it on it loads the dell screen and than it goes straight to a black screen and all it says is please enter system password and my computer never came with the password.  either that or i dont have it.  but when the dell loading screen is up i try and hit F2 for settings or whatever that tab is and it wont work.  i dont kno what else to do and i heard it had something to do with the bios. please help

Why not start with the password first? Resetting the other settings might disable some drives or cause other problems. Also, if you do one at a time, you will know which one solved the problem (presuming one will).

ok ill try that. should i leave my computer plugged in or unplug it? and also what do i do to reset the passwords? like how do i do it on the motherboard

i have a 9150 dimension desktop and i tried the battery and power cord thing numerous times and it didnt work.  if u could help me out with the motherboard thing or the cmos settings i dunno how to do that stuff. if u could help that would be sweet

Did you try resetting the passwords? Normally, there is a jumper on the motherboard that will do that. You can also try resetting all of the CMOS settings. Again, there is often a jumper, but you can also pull the battery and power cord and leave it for awhile.

You didn't say what machine you have, so I can't be more specific.
