Netscape 6.1

I use Netscape as my secondary browser. Recently, I have upgraded it to Version 6.1

I have photos - family and others which are scanned and saved into .jpg format in my harddrive's special folder. Today I was surprised to see that all my photo files are changed into blue logo of "N' netscape and file type is changed into "Mozilla Joint Photographic Exports Group Image File" from .jpg format type. It loaded the Netscape 6.1 when I tried to view the photos which turned into a large size too big to fit into the screen. This is terrible!

I have nothing to do with Mozilla stuff. Is it a kind of a Netscape 6.1 bug or what? I am thinking about getting rid-off 6.1 but then what will happend to my photos? If anybody have an idea about this Netscape problem and how to correct the situation then please let me know. Thank you.

It sounds like you need to reassociate jpg's with Internet Explorer or whatever other photo editor you have. Use Windows Explorer to locate one of your jpg's. Left-click the jpg then hold down the shift key and right-click it. On the menu that comes up, choose "open with". Finally a window will come up that allows you to choose what program jpg's open with.

Many thanks for your help. Now the photos are opening with my choice of a program. However, the blue logo ("N") of Netscape and name of a File type (Mozilla ......) are still there. Any further suggestions?

No, other than on the last window, where you chose the program to open with, did you check the "always open with ..." box?

I would have thaught that would have done it.

If they were thumbnails that you were weeing before, I have seen posts here on how to correct this but don't recall the instructions. Hopefully, someone who remembers will reply.

Yes, I did check the "always open with....." box. You are right. I mean thumbnails are showing blue logo of "N" and file type "Mozilla......".
