Network card problems

Question

I am ready to pull my hair out with this problem. I have a deminsion 4550 with xp yeah I know its old but I dont use it all the time. I have a problem with it lately that I have never seen before. When starting up the computer it tells me you have limited or no connectivaty. The only way I can get my internet to work is to run the dell diagnostic cd and run the test on my network card. Once I run the test it says its working then I can close out the cd and it boots into windows and I have internet. But if the computer has to shut down or restarted its back to the same with no connectivity until I run the dell cd again and run the test on my network card. Do any of you have a clue to what can cause this to save the hair I have left on my head please help.:emotion-9:

Winsock Malware or NWAY negotiation problem.  Set the NIC to 10 meg half duplex in the driver options.
