What is your current CPU speed? Not every 8200 can use that processor.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductList.jsp?ThirdCategoryCode=011107

Choose the Non-ECC (it won't say ECC in the name) and 40NS memories ONLY. $88 for a 256MB chip. MUST INSTALL IN PAIRS.

i.e. for 512MB, you need 256MBx2.

Also, what is your current RAM amount.

The specs are correct for that system, which does not support 533 MHz bus CPUs.
The fastest CPU you can use in that system that is currently available is the 2.8 GHz/400 MHz bus unit.

If you try the 3.06/533 on your system board, it will run - but since 533 MHz bus operation is not supported, it'll run at 3.06*(100/133) or 2.3 GHz.

"Memory must have a 45ns rating"

Incorrect. In order to use a 533MHz FSB CPU, you must have 40ns RAM.

No, I was just stating that...

In case this helps, here are the specs on my Dell Dimension 8200 - purchased in January 2002 (sold before May-6-2002):

Chipset: Intel 850 (Pentium 1.9 GHz)

System motherboard has a 400MHz Front-Side BUS (FSB)

250-W power supply

1 AGP / 4 PCI slots/connectors

Has 4 memory sockets

Each socket has a maximum capacity of 512MB

Minimum system RAM is 128 MB

Maximum system RAM is 2 GB

Uses RDRAM-Rambus PC800MHz

Memory must have a 45ns rating

Uses ECC or non-ECC memory (non-ECC per site below)

System documentation located here:

http://docs.us.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/

I upgraded the original 512MB to 1GB and it made a BIG difference.  FSB of 400MHz is the only bottleneck on this 3 ½ year old system.  Otherwise, it is tweaked and runs like a dream.  I don't plan to upgrade or purchase a replacement system any time soon.

Have a gr8 4th!

Gere2255,

You can go to http://powerleap.com/ and run the "Power Leap upgrade configurator" and it will tell you which CPU's you can upgrade to.  I just upgraded my Dim 8100 from 1.5 GHz to 2.8 GHz.  I had to use the power leap adapter because of my old processor.  It went smooth as silk.

Hope this helps.
