New XPS 700 BIOS, same memory problems

After installing BIOS v1.41 recently, I was hoping for a resolution to a problem that has troubled my XPS 700 since I got it: Although 4gb of physical memory is installed, Windows XP x32 (Task Manager, Perfmon) is seeing only about 2.75gb of that total. The BIOS setup screen shows 4gb correctly, and the memory test passes fine too. WinXP x32 can handle up to 4gb of memory. Oddly though, the Win32_Physical memory WMI class shows all 4 memory slots of 1gb each. What's happening here?
