NIC failure

after doing some cleaning on my video card i put it back in an di get the following error.
 
error initializing PCI Express Nic Bridge. Nic Failure
 
the ethernet card is not recognized now and i can't seem to get it working.   i have an xps gen 3 3.4 pentium 4, 1gb ram,  256 mb x800 xt ati.      so any help will be appreciated

jusegozu,

* Read this section on Clearing CMOS settings
* While your in there, reseat the video card and any other cards

Reseating means to physically pull the card out of the motherboard pin socket and then plug it back in.

ok i got how to clear the cmos but how can i reset my video card and all that?

ok i tried all chris said.   i reseat the video card and anyother card, i cleaned my fans, and made sure they were working.     the ethernet card still isn't working. i get the error and two options, start the bios or continue :(

i tried everything and it still didn't work, how can i at least disable it to not get the error? i already tried uninstalling my ethernet driver, but i still get the error

Just to clarify - are you saying you have PCI ethernet card installed in your system - and if YES, why would you do this when you can use the built in NIC connection on the back of the computer?

no i am not using a pci ethernet card, i was using the nic on the back of my computer until this happened, now i have to use my usb modem.  and when i turn off the computer and back on i keep getting the error

no, but i hate system restores :"(   how can that change anything if it doesn't have to do anything with software.

ok i'll have to try taht, if by any chance how can i know if the nic is actually damaged? and how can i find out,and how can i disable it

Just a guess...but have you tried restoring your system to a date before the problem occurred?

Just to clarify, I was referring to Windows restore, not the Dell system restore..
