NVidia GeForce FX 5200 problem
Hi,
I have been talking to Dell Techs for several days now, and the only thing they can suggest is to wipe my system and reload everything.
I am hoping that I don't have to do that as it seems like a video card problem.
I have Dell Dimension DM 4600, Intel Pentium 4 CPU, Windows XP, NVidia GeForce 5200 Video Card.
When I try to play a video or a game or anything that seems to require lots of power or whatever (yeah, I am computer illiterate), the screen will flicker black off and on (in no particular pattern) then go totally black. I have to turn off the computer and turn it on again. Sometimes it goes to a blue screen that says
Problem file: NV4_disp
I have deleted NVidia drivers and downloaded the ugraded driver from their website (77.72 version) and earlier versions, I have loaded the video drivers from my Dell Resource CD, I have taken my computer configurations back to an earlier date, I have deleted XP Service Pack 2 (which now causes a Window System Error - - There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network - - whatever that means).
Anyway, I can't think of anything else to do.
HELP!

Hi,
Someday I would like to update this video card, but my system is only about a year old, and the card should still work, right?

Sometimes the latest and greatest is not the best approach.
However the 7xxx series has a WHQL version. I would use those.
