Optical Mouse USB connectivity problem
Using the optical mouse (M/N: MO56UOA, DP/N: OCJ339) at my Precision workstation S390 for about 20 months was without any problems. Suddenly the mouse USB connection is lost fro a few milliseconds or longer, alerting with the USB disconnect/connect sound. I found something here in the forum disabling the Power Saving for the mouse would solve the problem. While I do not hear the USB disconnect/connect sound anymore, the mouse still reacts erradically. It is often impossible to mark a simple text line and doign graphics is close to impossible as a selection is almost all the time incorrect.
So, I took another mouse (M/N: M-UVDEL1) from by PowerEdge SC1430 and it worked for a few days/weeks, but I now have the identical problem.
Just now I connected the third mouse from a Dimension 8300 (M/N: M-UVDEL1) and will see how long that works...
I tried several different USB ports including monitor etc., but all with the same results.
I checked if there is any driver update available, but it doesn't seem so.
I have a 3 year warranty ... but just replacing the mouse would not help in the long run.
O/S: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Version 2003, SP2
H/W: Dell Precision PWS390, Intel Dual CPU 6300, 1.86GHz, 6GB RAM
The malfunctioning mice work fine on my Dimension 8300 and PE SC1430.
Any hints appreciated!

We use alot of these machine at the company I work for. We were having issues too with the mouse freezing up. We flashed the BIOS and it took care of the problem.
