Optiplex 745 MT proccessor options
i want to have a core i3, can my computer handle it?
and if not, whats the best proccessor for it?

Good day !
The processors that are tested to be working with this system design are Intel® Pentium® 4HT, Celeron® D, Pentium D, and Intel Core™ 2 Duo with front side bus speed of 533, 800, and 1067 MHz .

There are Zero core i series in LGA775.
(Core 2 Duo E6700 for example) Conroe E6x00 series is the best upgrade. Bios should be updated BEFORE trying to change the cpu. The OptiPlex 745 supports Intel Pentium 4 HT, Pentium D, Celeron D and Conroe Core 2 Duo processors. 65nm and 90nm cpus. Intel® Q965 (ICH8) Express Chipset which is VERY old. NOT ALL CORE 2 DUO cpus are supported only the Conroe E6x00 series.
