OSD - On Screen Display

Hi, I've just got a new Dell Inspiron 2310 and have noticed that whenever I log in and go to Task Manager something called "OSD" is running.  When I try to switch to this application it just minimises Task Manager.  I think this stands for "On Screen Display". If I am right, In the Dell support pages I have seen reference to accessing this s/w that lets you change basic display/audio settings.   Can anyone tell me what it is, why is it running and what I can do with it ?  I do not seem to be able to open up any screen dialogue with it ..?  If I end it in Task Manager this seems to make no difference.

Always include the version of WIndows in your posts. :emotion-5:

It may be "hotkey" software that allows you to assign key combinations to perform specific tasks, eg launch a program, change a setting etc.

Click Start>run

Type in: msconfig

Click OK

Click STARTUP tab

Look for an item that's related to OSD and uncheck it. If you're uncertain about an item, google the name to see exactly what it is before unchecking it. Don't uncheck anything related to your firewall, antiviral software, mouse, monitor etc.

Exit msconfig and reboot. Put a check in "Don't show this again" box that appears after you reboot.
