overclocking processor
Hello, first of all thanks for amazing desktop vostro 230 its been 3 years i have bought it. Not a single problem with it. Its good for last year but now a days i am satisfied with its speed and reliability. Due to lack of funding i cant just build or buy a new desktop so i was wondering if i can overclock the processor to make my pc faster.
So here goes my questions:
1. Can i overclock the precessor of VOSTRO 230 pc Intel core 2 duo E7500 2.93Ghz ??
2. I want to upgrade my RAM. I know that maximum support fior vostro 230 is 4gb. But i cant understand that it supports 4gb in single slot or 2gb in dual slot??
Please help me with this issue. i will be looking forward to your reply.. reply ASAP..

"Overclocking" is generally not recommended by any computer manufacturer.
It may also be considered a form of "performance tuning" or "non-standard modification" for high performance, and will MOST LIKELY place additional "stress" on many parts of the system. This being said, here are a couple of resources to consider:

My opinion on overclocking is that it is like forcing a "child" to run in a race above their skill and experience level. If you put a 10 year old in a race against a 15 year old, the 10 year old will (most likely) NEVER win the race. Overclocking can cause more heat build-up inside the case of the computer, it can stress out the memory, and may result in "timing issues" in the communications between components (such as memory chips, cache(s), and hard drives). Most computer are designed to operate at A SPECIFIC SPEED for a SPECIFIC REASON, and being digital in nature, only have a certain amount of tolerance in the variation of these performance factors.
