parallel port test

I just updated to Win XP Home on my Dimension8100. I can't get the parallel port to work. My printer and cable work on my other system. Won't work on the 8100 since the upgrade. I did install the Win XP driver supplied by MS for my printer. Any suggestions?

What printer? You might need to reinstall or get updated printer drivers.

HP1220C. I installed the "signed" driver that came with
the XP software. I would think that would be as updated as I can get?

Those are the latest drivers. HP does not have any at all on their website. If you have not done so, you might try following these instructions on the HP website:
