Partial Keyboard Lost.

I am not a "computer NERD" so be easy on an old man. My problem, I had to replace my original hard drive. After that I can not get the right numerals to work. Have tried 3 different keyboards with same result. I have a Studio Slim 540, Win7 (64). Have checked all I know (little). Got any ideas? yogiebear

I'm not sure what you mean by "right numerals to work".  Can you expand on exactly what the problem is?

On a reinstall with discs, although Win 7 will install a lot of device drivers, there can be Dell specific drivers that need to be installed (the sound is one).

On a manual install the correct and required install is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Desktop System Software (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install device drivers including Video, Dell sound, Ethernet, etc.

Keyboards use basic built in Microsoft drivers.  The functionality of the numeric pad is part of the keyboard hardware and basic keyboard drivers.  Unless you have keyboards that require vendor specific drivers, there shouldn't be a problem.

I assume you are using the "num lock" that enables the numberic pad.

Normally, a rear USB should be used for both the keyboards and mice.
