PC Problems

Question

Alright, so for the past week now my computer has been kinda bugging out and I don't know what going on. So I have a Dell Inspiron 660 with windows 8.1 and I've had the computer for less than a year, I got it last summer in June last year. And this past week and a half I've noticed that the the blue light that's on the power button is very dim now, whenever I press shut down on the computer it will not shut down, and for the past 3 days I've noticed that the computer tends to freeze on certain apps or sometimes when I press the start button I'll be stuck in the start menu and cant go back to the desktop. and earlier today the desktop completely stopped responding and i had to force shut down the computer. Anyone might know whats going on?

Could be any number of issues, so you will need to do some detective work to decide if this is hardware or software.

Scan thoroughly for malware
Reboot in Safe Mode and see if problems persist
Reboot, press F12 and go to Utilities partition. Run all diagnostics and copy any error messages
Update drivers
Reseat RAM modules and PCI cards in their slots
Possible failing power supply?
