PCI Simple Communications Controller driver
My "PCI Device" is not working properly. It says I need to download the drivers again but it cannot locate the proper drivers. I think what I need is a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" driver. I have a Dell 4100 that has been upgraded to Windows 2000. Is there one available? Also my CD drives are not working correctly (because of this missing driver). I also noticed that the error code is Code 28, if that helps. Any advice will help. Thank you.

I don't have Win2k but this info might help with Win 2000. From the menu on the left, select Win 2000> trouble shooting win 2000> CD - Rom won't work after upgrade. Also under trouble shooting 'device error codes', code28.

Also an MS article on Win 2000 and USB 2.0 support:

Elise1981,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Download and install the chipset driver for this system for the current version of windows and this should cure your problem.

Try installing the drivers for your modem. Are the CD drives detected in the BIOS?
