PCI/PCI Express??

Question

Whats the difference between PCI slots and PCI express because i dont know the difference?   Ive just got posted that the Nvidia 6600 PCI express wont work in a normal PCI slot so now im intergraded stuck.   If u could so kindly give me a price on a brand spanken new 5700 PCI only, that would be great   Thanks for your time   Kind regards Michael

pci express is the new bus/port thats going to phase agp out, a normal pci card isn't compartible with a pci express card

the best way to find the difference would be to do a google search on pci vs pcix

Off Topic,

I saw this thing on tomshardware where they took an x16 PCI-E video card and taped of some of the contacts to make it run at 8x,4x,2x and 1x mode. The performence remained the same all the way down to 2x or 4x mode. It was a radon x800 too.

It shows how uninformed the average user is.  When someone sees 16x or DDR2, they automatically think that it MUST be faster and better.

i've seen a case in atomic pc that was a cube like that it had 16 80mm fans something insane 4 on each side

also while on cases this is the biggest fan i''ve seen on a case
