Power Problems

I added additional RAM to my 4100 in anticipation of upgrading to XP. For some reason not withstanding the fact that I added 256 MB of RAM I was running out of memory. I scanned the memory with Notron System Works & kept getting errors. So before I returned the new chip, I placed in in the 1st slot & removed the original chip. THE new chip ran perfectly & the system was a lot faster. I returned the original chip into the second slot. WHen I replugged in the power cord the power cam on right away & I got 3 beeps. The system would not boot up & hitting the reboot button does nothing.

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong? HELP!

It sounds like either the memory expansion slots on your mother board are bad or the memory is not seated correctly. Also be aware that Norton's memory diagnostics have a bug that has been known for a long time if memory is over 256 Mb. The bug says there are errors where there are known. Use the Dell Diagnostics to check the memory.
