What kind of PC do you have? Do you get any fans or anything else in the PC to react when you press the power button?

I have a dimension 2350.

There is no power running at all in response to pushing the power button. No fans, lights etc.
I have tried plugging the power cord into different different outlets with no successes, so I am assuming it has something to do with the internal power supply. Could I have blown it out by what I was doing? Or is it's failure (if that is what the problem is) coincidental coincidental?

Ok, it sounds like you got a power surge from the USB hub when connecting it. The fault can either be the motherboard or the power supply. My guess is that it is the mother board though. You can test this by disconnecting the power supply from the motherboard (the ATX connector) and then jumper pins  4 and 6 on the 20pin power supply connector and then starting the power supply. If the power supply spins up you have a faulty motherboard. If any of the above is greek to you then don't do this yourself! Inproper jumpering of the power supply can result in permanent damage!
