Precision 650, adding another processor

Hello there,

I have a Precision 650 with a Xeon 3.06 and have got hold of another of the same speed, but now not sure of the heatsink. There are two that I am aware of, a primary(0U532) and a secondary(8R578) I would presume that I would need the secondary, but is it correct that it can only take a 2.6 or 2.8 cpu? So would I need another primary maybe? Within the machine the cpu docks are perpendicular to each other so maybe a secondary would only fit anyhow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

As far as I remember, the heatsink for primary and secondary processors are the same. What is different is the fan and shroud assembly. Additionally you would need to purchase a VRM (voltage regulartor module or sth like that.)

I believe the two processors have to be exactly the same...

I have a Precision 650 with all the parts needed to add the second processor, but if I install the processor and VRM, the system won't turn on...it's been sitting like that for quite some time now and I would appreciate some help!
