Hi - I just bought an M40 on ebay configured exactly the same as your system. While I don't have the problem with the video display, my system does lock up exactly the same way yours is. The person I bought the system from said it didn't do this when he was using it. Right... The good thing is that it is stil under warranty for a year so I can at least send it in to Dell.
The bad thing is that I can just imagine Dell already saying that they can't reproduce the problem. It happens immediately if I lift the system up and try to move it around. If both of our systems are having the same problem, that would seem to insinuate a manufacuturer problem. I've done several things to try and rectify the problem including re-seating the memory, hard disk, battery, expansion bay component and hinge cover. None of these things has helped.
Is your system still doing this or were you able to resolve it? How frustrating!
