Precision T5400 boot problems

Question

Hello, I am having a problem with a Precision T5400 that will not boot anymore. It uses two 1TB hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration running from the onboard SATA controller. The issue appears after the Intel Matrix Storage Manager BIOS displays the status of the Array and Hard Disks (which are shown to be in normal working order). Immediately after the 'Press CTRL-I to enter Configuration Utility...' prompt, a very strange string of ASCII characters is displayed. It hangs after this point and will not boot into Windows. Below is a picture of this issue. I have run the full Dell Diagnostics and everything passed. I spoke to a Dell Service technician and he believed the issue to be a corrupt operating system. I am a bit skeptical of that conclusion.

Try clearing (resetting) BIOS:

Power off and unplug

Press/hold power button for ~15 sec

Open the case and remove the motherboard battery

Press/hold power button again for ~30 sec

Reinstall the battery (right-side-up!) and see if it boots now.

Thanks Ron, I'll give it a try later this week when the machines User returns from out of town. I'll let you know how it works out.
