Precision390 raid0 w/XP

I got some nasty malware this week and decided I need to wipe my machine anyway...so I did. However I am having some really frustrating issues getting it back up and running. I have two sata drives setup in a raid0 (intel built in raid controller) and nothing has changed from the config before to after other than formatting the drives.

I found the driver for the intel raid and when I install xp it shows a big list of raid/ahci drivers. Only one allows setup to see the raid0 drive...as it should. I am able to install xp and go through the whole process normally. Once XP is finished and tries to boot for the first time to the desktop I get continous reboots durring the windows logo loading screen. I decided to make a slipstream xp install disk that included the raid driver as well as other key drivers for networking, video, etc I also packed xp sp3 into that. Tried to install with that, picked up the raid0 drive just fine, installed without issue and then POOF continous reboots when trying to boot to the desktop the first time.

Things I have tried:

Multiple reinstalls with an OEM xp cd as well as my brand new slipstream cd (oem xp cd is sp2)

Tried using intel raid driver directly from Intel

Removed one stick of ram (4GB total)

All end up with the same result...arg!

Thought I would see if anyone here had some new insight for when I continue wrestling with it tomorrow.

You should be able to set up your RAID 0 configuration using the Intel RAID ROM before installing the operating system. See online Manual. Maybe this will sort out your problem.

Thank you for your thoughts but setting up the raid0 isn't the issue. As I mentioned I have the driver needed and windows setup can see the array (2 drives as one volume in RAID0). The problem is once windows is installed it gets into a reboot cycle and won't load properly. I was able to get into safe mode once changing the sata controller settings in the bios but I still was not able to start up normally.

I didn't know if there was some trick I am missing, I did not setup the PC originally.
