reply from Canon
Dear Mr. Foster,
Thank you for contacting Canon product support. I apologize for any
inconvenience caused by the print preview not showing when attempting to
print.
As this occurs in any application, you will want to check with Microsoft
if there is an update for XP in regards to this issue.
Please let us know if you need further assistance with the i950 by
replying to this message and including the email history. This will
allow us to respond more quickly and accurately to your inquiry.
Thank you for choosing Canon.
Sincerely,
Leigh

Which applications are you printing from? Some (many) applications do not have a Print Preview Option. e.g. Internet Explorer 6 has a Print Preview option, Click File then Print Preview and you will be able to preview what you want to print.
I have a Canon i950s and there isn't any Print Preview in the Canon print software, Canon is correct any Print Preview will be a function of the specific application (program) you are printing from.

Thanks for responding
I have been using winxp and i950 for about 3 years and just a week ago I stopped getting the print preview when printing anything. In the Canon i950 printing preferences the option is there to select "preview before printing" on the main tab, also to select color or gray scale and many other things. I see an option under file to print preview on many applications IE, Outlook, but that is not automatic. When I go to start, printers and faxes and click it a window opens with Canon i950 and fax when I right click on the printer icon I get a drop down menu and there is a choice to chose open, printing preferences, etc. and to chose preview.

I never noticed the "preview before printing" option, as I don't use that option anyway. But if it stopped working, you will have to reinstall the Canon drivers/software.
Disconnect the Printer from the PC, do an installation, or if it has a "repair" option do that and then either reconnect the Printer after it completes or if it tells you to connect it at some point do that.
If the reinstall over top of the existing installation does not work or doesn't fix it, uninstall the Canon drivers/software and uninstall the printer, disconnect the printer, restart Windows and then do a new install (and don't connect the printer to the PC until the Installation program tells you).
I don't recall of there is any updated drivers on the Canon site, but check and if there is, download and install the updates.
