Privacy Issue???

When I visit sites where I enter names (google, ebay, various sites where I make on-line purchases) when I put my cursor in the blank and begin to type, previous entries I've made pop up in a pull-down below where I'm typing for me to select if I so choose. I don't like this feature and wish to disable it because I prefer that other not know that information. Does anyone know how to disable the feature or delete the entries? I have Windows XP. Thanks!

dave1210,

Go to Tools|Internet Options|General tab. Clear history. You can also go to the Content tab under Autocomplete and clear passwords and such that you entered earlier.

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java.

Autocomplete has been a low-moderate security risk and should be disabled.

dave1210 -

A bit of clarification.....

Other people knowing what is in your Autocomplete is only an issue if you are on a shared computer and do not use a password to log into your account. The sites you visit do not have access to your Autocomplete information.

Also, you can selectively remove Autocomplete entry by highlighting the entry and using the Delete key.

Personally, I like having the Autocomplete feature turned on, especially since I now know how to remove specific entries.

RikkiM,

An educated guess...

If you are on a computer shared with a member of the opposite sex (i.e., wife/mother) perhaps an overlooked search for "Heidi's XXX fun with farm animals" might not contribute to domestic tranquility if found.
