ssrk,

On the video card, make sure your using the DVI Connector closest to the black s-video connector.

Get it up in a VGA setup, or F8 and boot in VGA mode with the VGA cable. Now install the driver cd or download it for the proper monitor driver from that you have or got from Dell, plug-n-play monitors start in Analog with those drivers defaulted. This will give the plug-n-play monitor DVI drivers. Then change the resolution to what you want it set as and you should now see, after right clicking desktop and seeing the graphics properties listing as "monitor type-digital" not actually typed that way, for example "2007WFP-digital". Now shutdown and reconnect the DVI interface cable and bootup normally. It should now be in range and accept the DVI interface connection. If the Digital monitor is not displayed in the desktop properties or in Display settings then update the plug-n-play drivers through device manager with the cd or downloaded drivers.

Probably a stupid question that you've already tried, but I had this problem with my 20".
Have you tried changing the input selector on the monitor to use the digital input instead of the analog?

You know that is a probability that usually gets looked over too. Try it.

Alrighty.. So you got the 19 inch.. Use this as my back-up monitor

So anyway I've had the same issues with the 19 inch - press the the button all the way left of the power button... Stated earlier in the posts - this worked for me because for some reason the properties never displayed the "digital" unless I selected option 2 (dig setting) on the display.. Hope that helps and makes sense - coffee hasn't kicked in yet!

DVI straight to DVI. Please for all that is logical. Say it ain't so, say it ain't so. Make sure you take out the vga adaptor.

Huh? What adapter? There are no adapters used or needed. Plug in the PROPER DVI cable between the card and the monitor. No adapters, nothing else plugged into the monitor's inputs. Then make sure that the monitor is in the DVI mode by pressing the button on the far left and keep pressing it over and over until that option is selected.

Now you are asking for trouble. Unless they are Dell's drivers, be prepared for unsupported resolutions, at least with some flat panels...
