I have an XPS 410 and need to replace the PSU.  The one I chose is equipped with 4-pin and six-pin cables.

In searching the forums On 11-03-2010 at 2:35 p.m., following a great  motherboard illustration, JMICHAEL posted  the following: If you look at your board below, you have the main 24-pin power connector #5 and then the 4-pin power connector #20 for your CPU. This is a separate cable on your power supply with the 8-pin breaking into two 4-pins and you just use one of them so an adapter is not needed. 

I am not understanding this is a separate cable on your power supply with the 8-pin breaking into two 4-pins and you just use one of them so that adapter you linked is not needed.

Looking at the PSU, this is how I envision it should be installed:

• The 24-pin power cable, and 4-pin PCI-Express Cable (yellow/black) should be connected to the motherboard. 
• PSU black Sata Cables should be connected to the DVD/CD Rom and the HDD
• A small distinct cable (4 holes I believe) is connected to the floppy drive.

Is this correct or have I missed something?  Thanks! :emotion-1:
