To find out you can enter the BIOS setup by hitting the F2 key when you see the Dell splash screen while booting up. Once inside the setup arrow down to "System Memory" and there it will list how much RAM is installed in your system. Hit the ENTER key and a box will appear listing how much RAM is in each slot as well as whether it is ECC or NON ECC.

Usually Dell supplies ECC RDRAMs which has the error correction capability(with parity) and it's very expensive(approx.A$600 per 256MB RDRAM). Non-ECC RDRAM does not have parity(no parity) and it's cheap(approx. A$200). I have installed 256MB RDRAM(with ECC facility) and 512MB RDRAM installed with non-ECC. I heard that making RD RAMs will stop manufacturing very soon. Those were all PC-800s. See ya...
