Recycle Bin

Recently, I went to the Recycle Bin to restore a file I deleted. The Recycle Bin was empty. So I tried a test by deleting another file and responded OK to move file to Recycel Bin, and it was deleted. Immediately looked in the Recycle Bin and nothing there!! Checked the properties on the Recycle Bin and am using Global setting for all three drives and the "Delete immediately" box is NOT checked. Is there anywhere else in ME where deleted files are controlled?

Thanks,

I only found one article at Microsofts site, Q267422, check it out, see if perhaps it will help you.

Thanks for looking, Ginny. The files deleted were small and there was no interrupt. I tried again this morning but nothing is going into the recycle bin. It's really strange.

I have exactly the same problem. The items are in the recycle bin, they are just not visible. If you go to:
recycle bin>file>delete items, ait will tell you how many items are in the recycle bin.

I don't have a solution either

Have you tried searching for the filename(s) of the deleted file(s) in Windows Explorer to see if they were exiled to some other place on your hard drive? Otherwise, I don't know your operating system, but maybe you could try the following. If you are running a version of Win 98, click Start, Run, type in SFC, and click OK. This will run the System File Checker, which will give you an opportunity to fix any corrupted system files. Programs like Norton Systemworks (http://www.symantec.com) and Tweak UI (http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp) also have diagnostic/repair features (Tweak UI is free). I'd appreciate hearing back on how the above works out.
