Reformatting the Whole Computer!!!
I know this may sound crazy, but I have had enough of the memory errors and computer freezing...
When I bought my computer about a year ago, it was flawless and ever since I downloaded a few programs off the internet, my computer has become very unstable...
I have all my original disks for all the programs on my computer and I would like to start all over.. when I mean all over I mean wipe out EVERYTHING and use the boot disk that Dell gave me when I bought my computer...
I have a Dell Dimension XPS R400 with Windows NT, 11 gigs of hard-drive... I am in the midst of backing up all my important files and uninstalling what I can from my computer..
Does anyone have a good, reliable way of uninstalling Windows NT and reformatting the computer safely?? If so, please tell me how or where I can get this info...
Thanks for all your help! (I hope no one has to go through what I have gone through!)

It's been posted here and abouts that a good source for this information can be found at:
www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Hills/5220/diskformatr.html
and I was hoping to have that neat little "here" link thing that everybody sent me figured out by the next time I tried to do this! Anyway, you might check that site for some answers.

Hey Goonboy--long time and all that :)
Here's the link. Right-click in the message frame, choose View Source, copy and paste (between and including the first of the 4 arrow brackets and the last of them) what I did to a notepad document, then save it on your desktop so it's quick to get at. Next time, just copy and paste to your message. You can change the word "link" to anything you want and it won't affect the actual link, OK?

Hi George,
Another possibility is this link to a thread in the Software/Windows NT 4.0 conference dealing with fdisking and reformatting under NT. Read the linked message, then click Next Message to get the answer you might need. There are some very knowledgable people down there; if you have further questions, my search term there was "reformat," and it brought up several possible threads, of which I thought this was the best. Perhaps you might search in that conference, or perhaps post a new question, OK?
Good luck,
Kay

Hey Stephanie,
The easiest way is to pick up TweakUI; thanks to Dan B, it can be found here. Install that, then go to My Computer | Control Panel | Tweak UI, and go to the Boot tab. Uncheck the entry for Display Splash Screen While Booting.
You can also rename the logo.sys file, but there are a couple of them available, depending on whether or not you have the original Dell install, so I usually stick with this solution.
Good luck, and thanks so much for the kind words above :)

Hey Stephanie,
No problem--they've got so many tabs and utilities there, it's hard to find everything you need :)
Glad to help...
