Yes, it is, for warranty replacements - all the major system vendors do.

yes but refurbished parts are more relyable than new ones..

thousands of monitors are made and tested slightly after made.

refurbished monitors are tested thouroughly before shipment

so the one u get as a replacement is probably better than the original

well that's good to know.  however, my first replacement didn't last too long.  after about two weeks a thin vertical line began appearing about 20 minutes after boot up.  it ran the length of the monitor about a 1/4 inch from the left edge.

well i think that's flat wrong.  Dell should not do that.  nor should any other company.  if you buy something retail it should be a part that has never left dell's facilities.  i think anyone who buys a part retail has a right to expect that part to be new.  not "like new", refurbished, reconditioned or anything other than new.

that's why i'm a little miffed that they send replacements that are refurbished for parts that were purchased as new.  i paid for a new monitor.  it did not work properly.  why should i receive a refurbished monitor to replace it?

that vertical line running down your monitor could very well be the graphics card. A # of them can do that, which means they are deffective.

well that's what i was thinking.  but the chat agent felt it was the monitor.  if it happens again then we'll know for sure.  :smileysad:

how difficult is it to replace that thing?  can a novice do it correctly?
