Resource CD doing nothing
Hello.
I recently wiped my hard drive and installed a new partition. I installed my traditional Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 Operating System.
I have done this several times before, and the usual step after this is to install all my drivers and utilities via Resource CD.
I inserted the Resource CD, and nothing happened. I went to My Computer, and it has under Devices with Removable Storage, the Resource_CD (D:)
My options are :
Autoplay
Search...
Open
Explore
Sharing and Security...
Write these files to CD
Eject
Copy
Create Shortcut
Properties
I have tried AutoPlay, I opened it up and ran Autorcd.exe, which is the autorun utility but it does not work!
I tried to re run the set-up that it automatically does, and I have re-run it several times.
I really need my drivers to do everything
I cannot even connect to the internet because I do not have the drivers to do so.
Please, I need help.
My System Information:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Dell Inspiron 530
Thanks, Jay
**Edit**
I have called the Technical support and they stated that I would have to spend 110$ to renew my warranty so they could help me, which is outrageous.

Hi Jay,
$110? Wow, you're not kidding that's outrageous.
As an alternative, you can get everything you need from downloads. If there is a chipset driver, install that first. It is usually necessary to burn them to a CD and install from there.
Not sure why your resource disc is not working but at least this way you can get it up and running and figure out what's wrong with your disc later.

Okay, I downloaded all the drivers and put the .Exe's on a cd then opened them up, installed them all on my computer. When I re-started my computer, it came up with a black screen. it says Keyboard failure Press F1 to continue, F2 to enter SETUP.
I have tried them both, nothing is working. it stays there. I have tried to turn it off and on, and it still comes up.

Well, that has nothing to do with any drivers you installed. That's a POST error. Do you have another kayboard you can try?

Alright, I fixed the keyboard problem but the drivers are not installing properly. I tried different drivers, I tried the drivers that are supposed to be on my computer, and nothing. I still cannot connect to my LAN.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you unable to install any drivers at all? Or are you just missing the network drivers? Any question marks in device manager?

THANK YOU OSPREY4 FOR YOUR HELP!
I had purchased the upgrade to Windows 7 back in June and I popped it in, overwrote the partition with Windows 7, and at the end of setup it connected me to the internet, just because Windows 7 is that great. I successfully installed all my drivers via the Internet. I want to thank you for all of your help, and Merry Christmas to you.
Sincerely, Jay
