Restore Wizard

Win XP - Dimension 2100.  I don't know if this is BIOS or what.   I tried to set a  restore point and got this error message.

"The procedure entry point RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll"

I don't know what I did, it was working several days ago.   Help.

If you have not already, install Service Pack 1 for Windows XP. If this is already installed, reinstall it. Service Pack 1 should be available for your Windows XP operating system at Windows Update.

Now I Have real problems.  (I am on my laptop).  I started the upgrade to SP1...fine.     It downloaded and started to install.   After about fifteen minutes I realized nothing was happening.  The computer was frozen.   Nothing worked, not esq, not ctl/alt/del.. nothing.  I finally did a hard shut down.  The computer will not start at all.   The Dell comes up, then the window showing XP as starting, then it shuts down, restarts, and does it all over again.  Since XP was an upgrade from Dell (I bought the computer while you were still shiping ME but offering a free upgrade to XP) I have to start over with ME.  I used a rescue disk to boot up and am not trying to install ME.   Fortunately I did a tape B/U about a week ago, but I am hoping ME will let me transfer other data to the laptop.  Anything that you think I should know will be greatly appreciated.

I started this message and it disappeared.   If it appears twice, please excuse.

As I said above,  I loaded ME and got the computer booted.   Working partially in ME and partly in DOS I have salvaged most of my data.  I need my 3 address books.

I have a full backup tape (Veritas) but I can't find them on it.   I tried to start Outlook Express in ME and got an error message

"OE could not be started because MSOE.dll could not be loaded."

The file is there, in OE, but won't load.

I would appreciate any help on either getting OE loaded or findiung the three address books on the BU tape.

Thanks.
