Since you are running Windows XP you have an administrative account by default, and it is probably the one you are using. There are two ways to resolve the issue you have. If you are using Windows XP Home Edition you can bypass the password requirement by running the little Visual Basic script at #67
here. Alternatively you can go to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts and add a password to your account. Since you are the only user if you don't wish to see the Welcome screen when you start the computer (as you will after adding a password) go to Start|Run, enter
control userpasswords2 and click OK. On the next window uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." When you OK out you will be prompted to enter your user name and password. After this, your computer will boot directly to the desktop.
