the yahoo fix is to the notch on the right side, not to the slider lock as in the video. fact is with this fix the card works fine which leads me to believe that it's a mechanical failure of the internal reader. it just baffles me to think that you can get a mechanical failure from something that doesn't move. And i, rarely remove the card.

resedit
is OLD Mac OS9 software.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ResEdit
many reasons.
1 the switch is bad and broken.
2 the SD Card memory cells are BAD and will no longer take a write
3 the Write code is DISABLED in the Registry and you do not have rights to WRITE.
4 you have USB Malware and the card is infected at the boot sector/partition level
5 there is insufficient power on usb or reader to WRITE to the media.
Covering the notch will fix it (SOMETIMES) Its like the Write protect on Floppy drives So if you cover the switch hole ....
You did not say what dell
You did not say what os
You did not say what kind of SD card or its size
You did not say what kind of reader/writer
In general this is not supported at this point.
