Setting a password
I would like to set a password for my dimension 1100 desktop, so that it doesn't boot without it.
I am not sure if this is a system password or setup password, can you say which.
Also is it possible for me to reverse this so that it doesn't ask, and if so how.

You can set a password in the System Security section of your BIOS (System Setup) - see link to service manual below (same page includes how to clear it):
