Shut down error message, Help!!!
I have a Dimension 4100. OS is Win 98se. When I shut down an error window pops up that say DDE SERVER not responding at which point I have to click end task for my system to go ahead and shut down. Any ideas???

Are there other applications that you normally run that have already been shut down at before you attempt to shutdown the computer? If so, then perhaps one of these programs fails to shut down the dde process. In general, only older programs use this. Have you added anything to your hardware or software environment recently that could have caused this problem?

To troubleshoot this problem, close all Windows, then hit the Cntrl-Alt-Delete key at the same time to ring up the running task window. This should show a list of programs running in the background. Write down all programs on the list and post the list here.

I have shut all down except for Systray & Explorer and ran scandisk and still had same problem. FYI
