Shutdown does not shutdown

I click shut down, and instead of shuting down, it does a restart.

Mike: If you're running Win98, and if you haven't done so already, go to the Windows Update Site, click on product updates and download/install the shutdown patch. I'm not positive this will help in your situation, i.e., your system doing a restart instead of just hanging on shutdown, but it might be worth a try......

Also, check to be sure the restart button isn't clicked on the shutdown screen.

I goto that site every day when I come home from school, I actuly do a lot of stuff like that... but the point is, if anything was there to help, I already got it, and did not work, I do Not have any virus, I also keep my virus checker running and updated all the time, and Yes, I DO click shut down, not restart. I am thinking it is something with the CMOS but the settings in there do not seem to make sence, (I understand CMOS, but the power status part doesnt, on my old dell I had power on, but, I did not have a powersurge and backup power supply then)
