Shutdown Problem Fixed (for the record)

After buying a flashy flashy new case and moving over guts of the 4550, it would start, then shut down after a few seconds... sometimes a minute or two. I searched everywhere online and tried every fix...

Was the Mobo touching the case?
Was the power supply good?
Cables all in correctly?
CPU secured?
Fans all working?
Ram all good?
Cards all good?
POSTing fine?
CMOS need reset?
Overheating Issues?
Voltage Issues?
Pinout Specs matching PinIn?
Bent Mobo when moving?
Download Mobo Diagram to check?
Tracked Beep Codes?
Checked Light codes? (needless to say all the codes fell under 'other problem' - dont they always;-)

etc etc..almost ad-infinitum (7 hours in total trying them all!)

took a long time but I eventually stumbled upon the reason.... wait for it...

The power cord from the computer to the wall was faulty!

Just posting this here in case anyone else googles for a fix and has the million to one shot problem I had. Sometimes it's easy to forget the basic checks.

Would have saved me a lot of time thats for sure.

My brother had an old pentium computer and got a new Dell. He figured why run the new power cable, there are all the same.

Computer wouldn't power up. Eventually (after much frustration) he switched the power cables and it worked fine. How far in you had to reach to make contact was different.

As you said you can't forget the basics.
