SHUTDOWN PROBLEM

I can never shutdown my computer properly. It just hangs at the WIN 98 "your computer is shutting down" screen. Any suggestions?

Do you have Windows 98 Second Edition? If so, have you installed the Shutdown Supplement available at Windows Update? (Tools - Windows Update - Click on Product Updates, and see if the Second Edition Shutdown Supplement is among the updates recommended)

Mike,
I know exactly what you mean! I've had my Dell computer for 5 weeks now and for the first few weeks mine did the very same thing as yours. I'd then punch the on/off button and when I signed on next time it would run Scandisk since "You failed to shut down propery". I can't tell you why but all of a sudden my computer has started shutting down properly these days. I wish I could give you more help.
If you call Dell Customer NO Service, be prepared for rude, unhelpful people on their end of the phone.

Ummm....you've got me there. Maybe...post the question in Win ME conf., and see if anybody's figured it out for that flavor yet? Haven't heard a peep from MS about ME shutdown problems, but they probably still have their hands full with all the 98SE problems! :-)

If you have the TNT2 M64 card try downloading and installing the drivers from this site:
