Slow XP Startup
After booting up and reaching the Desktop, XP goes into
hold mode while it loads more processes. This goes on for
over 1 additional minute. I've watched this phenomena by
starting Task Manager. About 1/2 of my processes are
already loaded. Then there's the over 1 minute wait for
the rest of them to pop up. In the meantime you can't do
a thing. All of the second batch of processes are labeled
SYSTEM under the User Name column in Task Manager. Bottom line its taking me almost 3 minutes to go from cold boot to a useable desk top. I've tried BootVis. Its getting
hung up trying to load during the worrisome second phase
SYSTEM process load. Any insights will be most
appreciated.
