Yes, the chipset drivers should be installed prior to any other drivers being installed in the system.

Install the INF updater and the problem will go away.

Failure to do so before installing graphic drivers can have unhappy results.

I just have a similar problem with the SM Bus Manager. My comp. is dimension 4550. I read the previous questions about it and I've downloaded the infinst_enu.exe from the link U pointed http://www.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/inf.htm. I've run the .exe, and obviously it went ok, but nothing changed in the device manager window : the yellow question mark is still there, even after rebooting. Do I have the right stuff, or do I need to run some special soft to update the SM ?
