I use Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. You can get it for free at www.download.com. I have it automatically scan my system on startup. Works great.

Hi,

FYI, there is a new reference update file which is basically like a virus signatures file for the program. Version 1.3

Try www.lavasoftusa.com for the latest version and reference updates. www.downoads.com may not have these yet. The home site can also point you to mirror sites if the main site is busy.

I have the enhanced version Ad-Aware plus, well worth the cost.

Thanks for the link to the update. My Ad-Aware needed it. Mike

Hi,

The best article I've come across on Spyware is from the pc911 site

http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/spyware1.html

FYI the Ad-Aware Plus program which is the higher spec shareware version of the the freeware Ad-Aware program also has a TSR program that picks up spyware as you get it.

There was a very good tip recently on the D.K. fourm about putting Spyware related sites into the restricted sites listing in Internet Explorer.
