Start Menu Question
First, I'm not a computer person, so please help me out.
I would like to remove programs from the start menu, but not from the computer. The start takes so long and I've tried everything else.
Any suggestions would help.
Oh yes, Dell Dimension 4300 with service pack 2.
Thanks, in advance.
PS.. anyone know anything about Windows Live Messenger?

First, this section is for Desktop AUDIO issues. The Microsoft OS section would be the most appropriate.
However, what to remove from startup can vary from PC to PC, depending on what you have installed. There are certain items that must be in the startup but even that can vary from one PC to another.
One suggestion is to backup your user data to some exernal device or CD's and do a complete reinstall, including reformatting the hard drive. I know it's a hassle, but you will be amazed at how fast and how well the old PC runs. As PC's are used, programs installed, programs deleted, etc they will tend to slow down, either from what is installed or from left overs from old programs.
HERE is the Dell instructions on reinstalling.
