START | RUN | MSCONFIG
Before running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 on my Dimension XPS B866r, I run MSCONFIG to unload anything not needed. Unlike on my previous Dell PC, this one does not show SYSTRAY. Does it make a difference? Also, why are there two entries of LOAD POWER PROFILE? Does each have a seperate function? If so, where do I find which one does what?

For some reason that seemingly noone understands, Systray is not present in the MSCONFIG listings OR Control / Alt / Delete on all systems. There was an extensive thread a while back about this and as far as I know, it's still a mystery but, has no effect on your system whatsoever.
Without going into a long spiel why there are two, your Load Power Profile entries are normal. You must keep them both if you desire to use any of the Power Management Features.
