Microsoft Works calendar reminder. If you don't use it, you can get rid of it. Uncheck it on the msconfig startup tab.

It is not checked. So why is it on my startup?

I've nevert had MS Works suite, but I would guess that there is an option, probably in the Calendar application, to keep it from running at startup. The other place you could look is to see if it's in your Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder. If it's there, delete it.

Steve is correct, there is an option in the works program to 'notify me of program updates' in the customize tab.

Did that but it didn't work. Thanks though, and I am glad it worked for you.

I'm having the same issue with the calendar. Didn't realize it untill reading this thread. All the appropriate stuff that I can find is unchecked and wlcalrem does not show up at bootup on my system. However, after I open the calendar and then close it, I then find the wl thingy in the ctrl-alt-del window. There are no reminders set on my calendar that I am aware of so I'm pretty much stumped at this point. Bruce
