Still problems

Hello again, Does anyone here know why I am having different speeds when I go to dial-up?....The speed can go anywhere from 32.6Kbps to 49.0 Kbps...There is no set pattern.... Sometimes I get a message from Outlook Express reading ERROR #8000CC0f??????....That is of course when I am sending a message....It happens when the speed is up or down....This is a crazy problem....The phone company has come out and cleared the phone lines.... I have two Dell Computers...Dimension-4400 and Dimension-4100...Do the connectors to the modem have a color on each end?....Should there be?...I have both Computers on an extension to the wall phone jack......I think I have told you everything to give you an idea of what can be wrong.....
