Stop Error :0x0000007E

Hi:I have Dell Dimension 2400
512MB DDR ,Readon 9100 ,WinXP With Sp2
Today I uninstalled my Firewall & I reinstalled another one and when It Asked me to reboot
as soon as the dektop loaded I got the Following Stop Error:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down
to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is
identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the
manufacturer for driver updates. Try chaging video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS
memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe
Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8
to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

anyhow I restarted my PC and Booted of the Dell Dimension Resources CD and I did a diagnostics & everything Passed
I was thing if the above problem related to a hardware or Software .

This happens now and then. Don't worry about it unless it keeps happening or if you have just installed different drivers or hardware.

hi!
 
actually yes, it seems it is a software issue....
maybe you can try booting into safemode, (hit F8 at the dell logo, and then select the option the says safemode, and then select the administrtator option, then you can run system restore i think it would work, you can try that..)
how old is your computer?

Thanks a lot Guys :
It turn out that the newly installed Firewall was the Culprit
I think it is not Compatible with Sp2

frickin stop error.  I spent about an hour troubleshooting that same one tdoay.  Or was that yesterday now.  Ended up narrowing it down to the NIC driver.  What a flippin pain.
