Stop Password Requests

I recently upgraded to WIN 98SE on my Dell Dim. XPS D233 and cannot stop the request for " Network Password for MS Networking" at startup. I do not have a password or intend to ever connect to a network. However I do connect to the internet by cable modem if that can be considered a network.I do remember that if you did not pick a password the request would stop which is not happening here. I would appreciate any help to stop the password request. Thanks.

Right clock - Network Neighborhood - icon on desktop | Properties and where is says - Primary Network Logon - chang it to windows logon... restart and it should be gone.

Just to add to Jerry's advice, the first time you reboot after changing the primary network logon to Windows logon, it will ask for a username and password. Leave the password field blank. The next time time you boot you will not get the message asking for the password.

Just to add to Jerry's and Stephen's advice, you may want to bookmark Microsoft knowledge base article Q152104 so you can stop the logon prompt if you ever reinstall Windows or inadvertently change your network logon or hose your network settings and it returns.
