From what I have read on the forums, the E510 does not support core 2 processors, only up to and including Pentium D.

Hi
I did some searching around the forums and found that some E510's
were made with Pentium D 930 processors. I found one here

Do you think it's worth the upgrade from Pent.4 3gig to the D 930. Will i see improvement.
Thanks

OEM = No heatsink and fan that cannot be used on a Dell anyway, no fancy box. Bare CPU.

That is a confusing web page I linked to, first it is an Open Box Item, usually a return, but the specification says it comes with HSF??? Crazy.

Here is their open box policy:

"Open-Box Items
  • Return for refund within: 15 days
  • Return for replacement within: non-replaceable
This is our Detailed Open Box Item Return Policy. Newegg.com often sells items that are listed as "open-box." Because these items are sold at greatly reduced prices, they bear this limited 15-day refund-only return policy through Newegg.com. Such items can only be returned within 15 days of the applicable invoice date. Newegg.com cannot provide replacement service for these items, as their stock is limited. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of these items is with the buyer. These items have been tested for functionality, but may have superficial physical defects including (but not limited to) scratches, dings or dents. Should these items prove defective following their purchase, the buyer (not the manufacturer, distributor, or Newegg.com) assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repairs, unless otherwise required by l a  w. These items are not covered by any 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

If you purchase an Open-Box product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE item, meaning you will only receive the item itself. Accessories are NOT INCLUDED with Open-Box products, even if the missing accessory is required for the item to function properly. "

That being said, I have bought a few open box items from newegg and they all worked fine.

Here is one for $99, does not say if it is new or used

I saw the one on Newegg  It's OEM. What would be the difference besides price.
Thanks

Mainly the warranty, OEM processor is one year and retail is three years, plus with the retail version you receive a heatsink and fan. This heatsink/fan cannot be used with your system, because it has Dell proprietary units.

"Will i see improvement."      Single core to dual core, Yes, especially when multitasking.

Better price here
